Homes for Keyworkers

3 of the homes on site will be allocated for local key workers at 70% of the market rate.

The feedback that we have already received from local residents as part of the pre-application consultation has highlighted a local need for a mix of housing for local families, young people and key workers in Aberporth.

We’ve amended the design to increase the number of homes on the site, whilst still maintaining plenty of shared spaces, in order to increase to three the number of homes which will be set aside for local key workers.

We’ve looked again at the design to ensure that the keyworker homes will be high quality, spacious family homes, and we have committed to ensuring that they are made available at 70% of the market rate.

This criteria and definition of ‘Key Worker’ is set out by Ceredigion County Council, as well as the definition of residency. More information on the policy can be found here.

National planning policy means that it is difficult who can and can’t buy the other homes on the site, but they have been designed for families and will appeal to families or couples, those who wish to downsize or retire too. They align with Ceredigion Council’s Local Development Plan, which shows that villages like Aberporth will need to accommodate more housing in years to come.
